Info:
Cap off your Thanksgiving weekend with a truly unforgettable experience. Join us Sunday, December 1, at 5:00 PM at Noe Valley Ministry for an early evening of music, film, and fun as we present the West Coast premiere of Stephen Prutsman's live score to "The General" (1928), a Buster Keaton classic that Roger Ebert hailed as a "masterpiece" and awarded his highest 4-star rating.
Ebert wrote, "Keaton's films have such a graceful perfection, such a meshing of story, character, and episode, that they unfold like music... The General is an epic of silent comedy, one of the most expensive films of its time, including an accurate historical recreation of a Civil War episode, hundreds of extras, dangerous stunt sequences, and an actual locomotive falling from a burning bridge into a gorge far below."
This big-screen viewing will be accompanied by live music, with a dazzling new score composed and performed by the virtuosic Stephen Prutsman, joined by the Telegraph Quartet, beloved for their dynamic artistry and returning to San Francisco for this one-night-only performance.
The General runs 70 minutes and is perfect for ages 10 and up. Younger kids? No problem-complimentary childcare is available for ages 3 and up (sign up by November 30).
Popcorn and champagne will be served.
Tickets: General Admission $45, Reserved Seating $60, and Students $15.
Don't miss out. Tickets are selling fast, and with a special 5:00 PM start time to create the perfect viewing conditions, this event is sure to be a highlight of your holiday season!
