  The Institutes will train individuals in the facilitation of the REAL curriculum, designed primarily for use within rural school systems and by community-based organizations and post-secondary institutions. REAL has been taught in 43 states in 140 elementary and middle schools, 250 high schools, 69 community and technical colleges, four universities, and 18 community-based organizations. REAL currently operates in Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia.
