  The Palm Beach Partners – a coalition of state and local government and non-profit agencies – including the South Florida Water Management District, the School District of Palm Beach County, and The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, City of West Palm Beach, Center for Technology Enterprise & Development (TED) and Paragon Foundation of the Palm Beaches, Inc. – are hosting an event that will enable small, woman-, minority, and disadvantaged business enterprises to pursue real world contracts and networking opportunities.

The daylong event will include topical workshops with strategies to help recession proof small businesses, a keynote luncheon, vendor spotlight awards, and one-on-one appointments with decision makers, onsite certification and networking reception featuring live entertainment. Construction, Commodity and Professional Service firms are encouraged to attend. This event is open to the public.

Former Essence Magazine Editor to Address Audience of South Florida Entrepreneurs
A fourth generation entrepreneur, Susan L.Taylor is the driving force behind Essence, one of the most celebrated American business success stories of our time. Founded as a fashion, lifestyle and entertainment magazine, Essence hit newsstands in May 1970 as the first monthly to target African-American women between the ages of 18 and 49 as a significant consumer segment.

Under Taylor’s guidance, the publication grew from a flagship circulation of approximately 50,000 per month to a multimedia readership of nearly 8 million. In 2005, Time Inc. became the magazine’s majority owner in a deal reported to be worth US$170 million.

Susan L. Taylor is currently Editor Emerita at Essence and founder of National Cares Mentoring Movement – a call to recruit more than 1 million mentors for vulnerable youth as announced on Oprah. Ms. Taylor is also a widely read inspirational author that embodies the virtues of the magazine: In the Spirit: The Inspirational Writings of Susan L.
