King’s Daughter (KD) teaches the essentials of becoming women of purpose, such as self-esteem, friendship, beauty & hygiene, health & nutrition, community service, educational achievement, talent development, creative writing, etc. This year we are hosting KDII, the program for younger girls (ages 7-11) May 2nd-May 30th, 2009. This year’s theme is “Living the Dream”. Living the Dream is the title of a Disney show featuring the Jonas Brothers (young brothers whose talent has catapulted them to ‘tween’ stardom). They are living their dream of being performers, songwriters and stars. We are encouraging the girls to find their hidden talents and become stars in their schools, families & local communities. We are encouraging them to ‘Live the Dream!’
The program this year also includes a Creative Writing Challenge, Teddy Bear Tea Party & A ‘Pink’ Carpet Affair. The Creative Writing Challenge encourages the girls to dream big and express their ideas of what it means to ‘Live the Dream’. Challenge winners will be awarded prizes. The Teddy Bear Tea Party is a fun opportunity to teach them proper etiquette & the joy of giving back to our community. The girls are encouraged to bring their favorite Teddy Bear to the party along with a Teddy to give away in our stuffed doll charity drive. The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope will be receiving our donated items. KD concludes with a ‘Living the Dream’ Pink Carpet Affair during which we enjoy the varied talents of our girls, award their accomplishments and recognize the winners of our creative writing challenge. Participation in the program is limited to girls ages 7-11. The program is held each Saturday morning in May in West Charlotte. Registration cost for the program is $20/person. To register, please contact us at 704-395-8685. You may register in person or online at www.cityofgodministries.com/OurMinistry/TheKingsDaughter.
