Pro wellness, anti-domestic violence event asks men to de-stress to fight domestic abuse

(Bristow,VA-July 15) The Extreme Makeover For the Woman's Soul (EMFWS) Empowerment Summit and Wellness Retreat will be held on July 17-18, 2009 in Atlanta, in part as a fund raiser for the Center for Black Women’s Wellness. Organized by Jireh Communications Group, the EMFWS event is a comprehensive, holistic approach to addressing key issues that affect the total well-being of women.
With the growing dependence of women in the workforce, prevalence of domestic violence in Black families and heart disease and AIDS health crises among Black women, the event will heavily focus on work/life balance and career advancement, health education and the impact of domestic violence on the African American community at large. Reflecting the message that well women win, the theme is "Winning in the Game of Life."
The CEO of the Center for Black Women's Wellness Jemea Dorsey states, "On a daily basis, we see the impact of stress on a woman’s overall health status. The Extreme Makeover for the Woman’s Soul is an innovative approach to educating, empowering, and recharging women so they can live a more balanced life.”
Other subjects included are beauty, finances, community service, social networking and fitness. Designed as a source of education, rejuvenation and personal development, dynamic speakers will present workshops and serve as panelists inviting interaction with attendees.
The empowerment summit will be held the next day will be jam packed with enlightening workshops and will be followed by the Black Butterfly Banquet to feature a forum, recognition community servants, entertainment.
