I) PREFACE

I shall like to thank God for bringing these great African men together. This On-line exhibitions is about "Time". I met H. Pernell Johnson and Samuel Doku while attending the 7th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is a great inspiration to travel over 2,000 miles to meet people who live in your own back yard. H. Pernell Johnson is a professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia just 90 miles from my Jacksonville, Florida home. Samuel Doku, originally from Ghana, Africa is a professor of English at Howard University, Washington DC just 500 miles from me. We Atlantic coastal men had to have the influence of the Pacific ocean to bring us together.

This exhibition is another on-line exhibition very dear to me. I wanted to us "Time" as a theme in term to how traveling through time to distance lands can bring people together. I literally had to travel the globe to get in contact with people who live "just up the road" from me. It is unbelievable how "Time" can draw your neighbor, who you rarely spoke with, closer to you when there is a thousands miles placed between you. Time can be the longest distance between the closest of people.

This exhibition also carries a special message, in which, during the preparing of the exhibition, H. Pernell Johnson and his wife gave birth to their son Caleb Pernell Johnson. This on-line exhibition is dedicated to one of the world's newest member Caleb Pernell Johnson.

Timeliness Is Godliness

What precisely is Time?
Can Time be Transcendental?
Timeliness is Godliness

Timing can be everything
Timing is K airos
Timing is serendipity
Timing is anything but happenstance

You see, life is a mass of time
Sixty seconds congeal to become one minute
Sixty minutes converge to become one hour
Twenty-four hours conspire to become one day
Timeliness is Godliness

Seven days merge to become one week
Four weeks conflate to become one month
Twelve months seduce 365 days to fuse
And become one year
Humans are the product of time
Timeliness is Godliness

God took six days to create the earth and the firmaments
He rested on the seventh day
A man takes only one act of coital adventure
To impregnate the opposite sex
Thereafter, egg becomes embryo
Embryo turns into fetus
Fetus becomes baby

Timeliness is Godliness
Nine months it takes from egg to fetus to baby
Anything less means artificial assistance
For baby to survive
Baby grows and matures to die someday
Success or failure in life depends
On the progression of time
Opportunities may come and go

But, there is a time to sow and a time to reap
Seize your opportunity when it comes your way
Because timing is everything


Where there is a will
There will be a way
Timeliness is Godliness
